Xendit, one of fintech startups from Indonesia, has received the unicorn status in 2021. The company first emerged in 2015, so it means it only took five years for Xendit to reach unicorn status! Xendit comes in with the vision to provide automatic payment infrastructure as a solution for any type of business. Big vision needs talented people to realize it into action, Tessa Wijaya is one of them. Who is she and what’s her role in Xendit?

Tessa Wijaya is the Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of Xendit. In the company, she takes the responsibility for the overall business operations; service and support, partnerships, public relations, and compliance. With such responsibility and how huge Xendit’s achievement this year, we have no doubt that Tessa Wijaya had a lot of skills and experiences.

Before building Xendit, Tessa Wijaya had a remarkable career journey for seven years in the private equity field in large companies, such as Principia and Mizuho! Throughout her career journey, Tessa Wijaya is competent in the finance field and investment. The knowledge and skills she has of course lead Xendit to the current position! As a woman who strives in the technology field, Tessa Wijaya is apparently aware of gender issues in Indonesia.

“Women should have a say and there are a lot of contributions that can be made, especially on what they can achieve. Especially in Asia and technology, where people need more role models to support the growing ecosystem” — Tessa Wijaya

She asserted that Indonesia needs more platforms where women could take a part in the technology field and also could inspire other women. Not only is she aware of the leak of women’s contribution in tech, Tessa Wijaya also initiated a platform to answer the gap called Women In Tech Indonesia!

The platform aims to connect women techpreneurs, developers, and aspiring techies to share their knowledge and experiences. A series of workshops and social forums are provided by the platform for women to dig more in technology! Also, Women In Tech has a profound vision which is to empower and encourage the next generation of women in Indonesia to achieve any goal they aspire.

Here at Girls Kode, we also hold the same value as Women in Tech Indonesia by Tessay Wijaya; we aim to encourage women to take part in technology! Follow us for more insight and inspiration!
